We require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible for a scholarship.
Scholarships are subject to yearly review. Therefore, you must upkeep the 3.0 minimum GPA at your University to continue the scholarship award.
A letter of appeal should be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee (scholarships@thegemmafoundation.org) if there is a significant reason for not attaining the appropriate credits and/or GPA.
We work parallel to your application schedule. Your application to Gemma must be submitted 4 weeks prior to the payment due date at your University.
Your application will only be reviewed, once you have been accepted to your University.
Applications must include a copy of your acceptance letter.
University scholarship recipients must complete a full-time program of study. No fewer than 12 credit hours during each of the fall and spring semesters for a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year.
Financial Criteria:
Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid from other sources (i.e. their education institution and other programs). In fact, we will PRIORITIZE students who have other grants and scholarships in place. We will MATCH those other scholarship amounts in order to complete the total tuition amount.
We PRIORITIZE financial aid to those students attending public institutions. We will consider a student applying to a specialty (magnet) program, an Ivy League University, and those who are already enrolled in a private institution and need financial assistance to conclude their studies.
Scholarships will be paid out before the beginning of each semester, directly to educational institution on behalf of a student.
If a student withdraws or drops classes, they will be required to repay financial aid funds received, if the university grants them a credit.
